It’s All Over But the Crying
| 1/25/2006 | Posted by Patti under Canadian Politics |
Well, the election is finally over. The Conservatives under Stephen Harper has narrowly gained a minority government. The Liberals under Paul Martin will form the loyal Opposition. I’m disappointed. I still think Harper is not and will not be a good Prime Minister for this country. He’d make a far better American President. As Martin put it so well during the campaign, the U.S. is our neighbour, not our country. We don’t need to be like them nor do I want to be. Read the rest of this entry »
Day Ten – Stepping Up

They say if you can do something regularly for at least 30 days it will start to become a habit. So, I guess I’m a third of the way towards a habit, I hope. This morning I pushed the walk in place to 45 minutes. I’m going to level off there for the morning session and start working on pushing the afternoon one up to meet it which will give me a total daily walk in place time of 90 minutes. I do about 6500 steps in those 45 minutes at a steady pace so that would give me a base of about 14,000 steps a day. READ MORE
My Vote Doesn’t Change

I watched the debate last night and saw nothing to change my choice of Liberal for January 23rd, in fact I might be even more solid in that idea. Layton has absolutely zero chance of getting my attention, man did I get tired of listening to commercials last night. The consortium which put on the debates needs to bill the NDP for the commercials Layton did last night… like every time he opened his mouth. READ MORE
It’s Harper’s to Lose

So, the big election news this morning is that the polls are showing Harper in a clear lead over Martin. Seems to me that just about this point in the last election the situation was similar. This difference this time is that Harper has managed to smooth over his real spots and keep them well guarded. Linda McQuaig wrote an excellent op/ed piece for TheStar yesterday about Harper and his neo conservative spots. Read the rest of this entry »
Day Nine – Pumping up the Stepping Up
| 1/9/2006 | Posted by Patti under General |
Well, I’m feeling pretty damn good this morning!! It is just after 9am and I already have done just over 7,000 steps. I’ve been pushing the walk in place about 5 minutes more each day that I’ve done it. This morning I pushed it another 10 to bring myself to 40 minutes. I’ve also done some laundry and tidying around the house which added to the step count. If I don’t break 10k steps today, it will be pure laziness. READ MORE
Day Eight – Stepping Up

OK, I think I may have broke the back on this round of serious insomnia. I don’t tend to sleep much anyways so when a spell of no or even less sleep hits it wears me down fast. Took the meds Friday evening, woke Saturday to a horrible headache and sense of lethargy that I couldn’t seem to shake until about 2pm. Finally got around to finding the energy for something to eat about then. I had woke several times during the night but I think I managed a bit more sleep than I had been getting. Day Six – Stepping Up
| 1/6/2006 | Posted by Patti under General |
Missed entering anything yesterday, didn’t get a walk in place done in the morning as I headed out to Pickering early to get my computer fixed. Did get some walking in around some stores while I killed time waiting for the work to be done.
Today I pushed the walk in place to 30 minutes, visited my doctor who prescribed something to break the sleep deficit for me, spent the afternoon in my Belleville office and still managed to bring my total walk in for the day to 8,497 steps. Almost half of that was during the 30 minutes walk in place.

A site I really enjoy went off the radar for a while and I thought the writer had given up on it, but Mirabilis.ca has returned and is now running on the WordPress platform which is what this blog (and all my blogs) run on. Welcome back!
