It would be really nice if Martin Manley at Jam Side Down would at least read enough to get his facts correct ….Brokeback Baghdad. Yes, James Loney, one of the Christian Peacemaker Team hostages recently released from Baghdad is gay and in a relationship — that relationship is not with one of the other hostages. The relationship, with another Canadian, was wisely kept out of the spotlight during his captivity.

Harper Gets it Right

I don’t think I’ve made any secret of the fact that I don’t have much in the way of regard or respect for Stephen Harper, the current Prime Minister. However, I have to give credit where credit is due — the boy had the gonads to not only visit the troops in the most dangerous place on earth, Afghanistan, but to spend two days doing so. If he could have found him, he should have taken the pacifist Layton along with him.

Just days after officially taking over command of the multi-national force in Afghanistan, a Canadian soldier has been killed in the line of duty.
