Extremism Not Confined to Muslims

Politicians and others seem to be quick to soundly condemn extremists like the Taliban and their treatment of women yet it appears we are not quite as fast to point those same fingers at other faiths doing the same… like Haredi Jews. I picked up this piece from The Globe & Mail today that I find rather disgusting.
If not for the article being identified as being set in Israel and the group as Haredi Jews, an ultra-orthodox sect, I would have thought that I was reading a piece about Afghanistan and the Taliban. In this day and age in a country supposedly civilized and under seige from Muslim extremists it seems almost impossible to believe that any segment of their society would be allowed to treat women in this violent manner.
