Widows of Canadian Soldiers Take on the Banks

A report today in the Toronto Star describes the widows of some of our Canadian soldiers killed in Afghanistan finding themselves needing to take on some of our major banks over mortgage life insurance they sold them. The banks are denying claims based on a clause that gives them an out if the death is due to an act of war. Insurance they sold to them knowing that at least one of the couple were in the military.
Some of the banks have backed down and have honoured the claims… after being contacted by the media. There are several issues I see here.
