Military Needs to Support the Soldiers and Families

More than ever in the last 50 years the government, by way of the military, needs to support not only our soldiers deployed overseas but the needs of the family here at home. Our soldiers, especially in Afghanistan, are being deployed in dangerous situations. They need to go knowing that the support at home will make sure that their families receive the access to support and help that they need.
The outgoing military ombudsman, Yves Cote, says that has not been happening. The families are receiving no or little help with a range of issues including answers after a soldier has been killed in Afghanistan and assistance with getting a soldier returned home with mental health problems the needed assistance.
It was and is important when soldiers are deployed on peacekeeping missions to support their families here at home while they serve this country away from home. Peacekeeping could be dangerous enough, but now we’re deploying our soldiers to fight a war a world away, it is even more important.
The government needs to wake up and be accountable to those they put in harms way!
