One Brave Young Lady

The seventeen year old girl Afghan girl who suffered an acid attack on her way to school last week has vowed to continue her schooling. While no one has claimed responsibility, it appears that the attacker was likely a Taliban operative.
The Taliban, when they were in power, violently suppressed the education of most of the young people but especially young girls. Until this brazen attack the Taliban has mostly attacked teachers and administrators or destroyed schools during the night. It would appear they are becoming increasingly desparate.
The day following the attack, none of the students attended school. It is hoped that this young lady’s bravery in being determined to go back to school to get her education and to help rebuild her country will inspire others.
Anyone who questions what Canadians are doing there, needs to pay attention. As fellow citizens of the world, the Afghan people have the right to be able to send their children to schools without being subject to brazen attacks like these or their schools destroyed in the night by zealots who would oppress their young, especially their girls.
